Where the data comes from

Straight from the venues: hours, specials, and events come from each venue's own website and public social pages, re-checked continuously. Listings a venue has confirmed directly carry a “Confirmed by the venue” badge — and if you run a spot, we'd love to hear from you. Spotted something wrong? Every venue page has a “Suggest a correction” link; we read all of them.

Why we built this

My Drink Spot is built by two Kansas City locals who kept running into the same problem: the big apps can tell you a bar exists, but not whether it has a patio, trivia on Wednesdays, or a happy hour that's actually running right now. They answer “where is it?” — we set out to answer “what's it like tonight?”

So we made the guide we wished existed, starting in our own backyard: every bar and restaurant across the Kansas City metro — both the Kansas and Missouri sides — searchable by the things that decide a night out. Patios, rooftops, live music, dog-friendly spots, drink specials, and what's on the calendar tonight.

What we're not

We don't do reviews or star ratings — plenty of places have that covered. We don't take bookings. Sponsored placement is always clearly labeled. And venues are always welcome to send us their info directly — that makes listings better for everyone.
