What this site is
My Drink Spot is a directory of bars and restaurants across the Kansas City metro. The venue information shown (names, addresses, hours, specials, events) comes from public government liquor-license registries, Google, and the venues' own websites — not from you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — which pages and venues are viewed, where visitors come from, and which links they follow. This uses cookies and collects a truncated IP, device, and usage data. We do not sell this data.
Anonymous usage counts
Separately from Google Analytics, we keep our own simple tally of how many times each venue listing is viewed and how often its links (website, call, directions) are clicked. These are aggregate counts per venue only — no cookies, no account, and nothing that identifies you or your device. Because the data can't be tied to any individual, this counting runs regardless of your cookie choice. We use it to show venues how much interest their listing is getting.
Accounts & saved spots
You can optionally create an account (via Google, or a passwordless link sent to your email) to save venues to your account. Sign-in is handled by Google's Firebase Authentication; we store only your account's unique ID, email, and display name, plus the venues you save. We use this solely to show you your saved spots across devices — we never sell it or use it for advertising. You can sign out at any time, and you can email us to delete your account and saved data.
Advertising
We may show ads via Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized ads in your Google Ad Settings.
Your choices
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies (Google Consent Mode). If you decline, these cookies are not set. (The anonymous usage counts above have no cookies or personal data, so they aren't affected by this choice.) You can also block cookies in your browser. Clearing your browser storage will prompt the banner again.
